News: Karavan Rent A Car in Baku Explains Tolls and Rules for the Karabakh Highway

Karavan Rent A Car in Baku has published a detailed breakdown of the new Ahmadbeyli–Fuzuli–Shusha toll road — with current tariffs, engineering specifications, and an honest explanation of what needs to be arranged separately from the road itself to enter Karabakh.

81.3 km, 7 tunnels, and a 6.99 AZN toll

The road, 81.7 km long with an 81.3 km tolled section, was officially opened on 3 July 2025. Tolls were approved by the Tariff Council on 1 June 2026 and took effect from 2 June: 6.99 AZN for passenger cars for the full route. Using the toll section is voluntary — a free alternative, the “Road of Victory,” roughly 101 km long, runs alongside it.

The entry permit is a separate procedure

We want to stress this specifically: paying the road toll does not replace the permit required to enter the region itself. Visiting Karabakh requires a separate electronic permit via the Yolumuz Qarabağa portal or the mygov.az platform — valid for 5 days and covering up to 9 people per vehicle. Since 23 July 2025, this has also been available to foreign nationals visiting six cities in the region.
