Weekend from Baku to Quba in a Ravon R2: an inexpensive trip to the north

My name is Martin Horak, I am from Brno, and I came to Azerbaijan for four days. I wanted to get out of Baku for a weekend and see the north of the country without spending much.

I decided on car rental in Baku and took a Ravon R2 from Karavan Rent A Car in Baku. For one person travelling light it is the cheapest sensible option available.

The car was delivered to my hostel in the centre on Friday evening, clean and fully fuelled. The manager asked about my route and explained what to expect on the mountain road.

The road from Baku to Quba is about one hundred and seventy kilometres of good highway. The R2 is slow on the climbs, but it holds a steady speed and never caused any concern.

In Quba I walked around the old town and the craftsmen’s quarter, and in the morning drove a little way up towards the mountains. On the narrow village roads the small size was a genuine advantage.

The whole weekend, including nearly four hundred kilometres of driving, cost me very little in fuel. That is exactly why I chose this car.

I returned to Baku on Sunday evening and handed the car over without any problems. The deposit came back immediately.

For a cheap weekend outside the capital, car rental in Baku with the Ravon R2 is a completely reasonable choice. It gets you there and back and leaves money for everything else.
