Car Rental in Baku from Age 21 with 1 Year of Driving Experience: Is It Possible and How
In short. Yes, at Karavan Rent A Car in Baku you can rent a car from age 21 with at least one year of driving experience. Standard terms are ages 21 to 65 with at least one year’s experience. Drivers over 65 can also be approved individually, up to age 75.
You’re 21 or 22, you got your licence a year ago, and on holiday you want freedom — a trip to Sheki, the Caspian coast or Gabala. You open rental websites and almost everywhere you see “from age 25” or “at least 3 years’ experience”.
The good news: in Baku, being young with little experience isn’t a dead end. Here’s how it works.
Why rental companies limit age
Age and experience limits are about insurance. Insurers consider young drivers with little experience a higher-risk group, so many rental companies simply set the bar higher and don’t consider such clients at all.
We do things differently: instead of refusing automatically, we look at the individual driver and choose terms that keep the rental safe for both the guest and us.
Age and experience: how it works at Karavan
| Driver’s age | Experience | How it’s arranged |
|---|---|---|
| 21–65 | 1 year or more | standard terms |
| 66–75 | — | individual decision based on the driver’s condition |
How to rent a car at 21: 4 steps
- Message a manager on WhatsApp or Telegram with your age, experience, dates and preferred car class.
- Send photos of your passport and driving licence so the manager can assess your request.
- Receive an offer: a car class and insurance package matched to your experience.
- Confirm the booking with a 20% prepayment and receive a voucher with the fixed amount.
We’ll deliver the car to Heydar Aliyev Airport, your hotel or any address you choose.
What’s arranged individually
The manager will help you choose the car class and insurance package. You’ll know all the terms before booking — no changes on the spot.
If you want to reduce your financial liability, ask about the zero-deposit insurance package. More on the options in our articles on car rental without a deposit and car rental with full insurance.
If you’re over 65
The upper limit of standard terms is 65. But age alone isn’t a reason to refuse: drivers over 65 can be approved individually, up to age 75, depending on the driver’s condition.
Tips for young drivers in Baku
- Start with a manageable class. A compact car is easier in dense city traffic and on the narrow streets of the Old City.
- Mind the cameras. Baku has many speed cameras, and fines are issued to the car’s number plate.
- Never drive after drinking — not even a little.
- Photograph the car from all sides when you collect it: it protects you on return.
- Keep the manager’s contact handy — if anything goes wrong, call right away.
