Reliable Crossover Rental in Baku: the Top 10 Bestsellers at Karavan Rent A Car in Baku — Kia Sportage, Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Santa Fe, Geely Monjaro and More
In short. For crossover rental in Baku, customers of Karavan Rent A Car in Baku most often choose the Kia Sportage, Toyota Corolla Cross, Changan Qiyuan Q07, Geely Monjaro, Hyundai Santa Fe, Toyota RAV4, Changan UNI-Z, Jetour T2, Renault Kaptur and Kia Soul, every one of them an automatic. A group of seven should take the Santa Fe: it is the only seven-seater in this top 10, and it has all-wheel drive. In Baku’s tight centre the compact Kia Soul and Toyota Corolla Cross are easier to live with, while the roomy Qiyuan Q07, Monjaro and UNI-Z suit long drives.
Of all the body styles you can hire in Baku, the crossover is the one that does a bit of everything. You sit higher than in a saloon, so you see more of the road ahead. It copes better with the patchy tarmac on country roads. And there is room for suitcases, a child seat and whatever you bring back from the bazaar.

1. Kia Sportage — Kia’s most proven model
The Sportage has been around since 1993. In summer 2023 Kia announced that global sales had passed 7 million, making it the best-selling model in the brand’s history. In the UK it was the most registered SUV of 2025, with 47,788 new cars. Our fleet runs the fifth generation, which Kia unveiled in June 2021 and which Euro NCAP rated at the full five stars in 2022.
Ours is the long-wheelbase version: 4.66 m long with 2.755 m between the axles. Power comes from a non-turbo 2.0 petrol unit driving the front wheels. Kia Australia quotes 543 litres of boot space for this version, rising to 1,829 litres once the back seats are down. The model page also lists cruise control and a camera to help when backing up.
Pros:
- one of the most proven models in its class;
- a roomy back seat thanks to the long wheelbase;
- a big boot for a seaside holiday.
Cons:
- front-wheel drive only;
- our version has air conditioning rather than climate control.
2. Toyota Corolla Cross — a Corolla that sits taller
The Corolla Cross made its debut in Bangkok on 9 July 2020. It shares the TNGA platform with the regular Corolla, a family that Toyota says had passed 50 million sales by the end of 2021. The crossover earned five stars from both Euro NCAP and ANCAP in 2022 and a Top Safety Pick 2023 award from the US Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
Our Corolla Cross has a 2.0 engine, petrol or hybrid, and front-wheel drive. It is 4.46 m long, and Toyota quotes a minimum turning radius of 5.2 m. US-spec cars have 206 mm of ground clearance.
Pros:
- Toyota’s reputation and strong results from three independent safety programmes;
- easy to turn and park on Baku’s narrow streets;
- the hybrid saves fuel in traffic.
Cons:
- a smaller boot than the RAV4 and Sportage: 487 litres, according to Toyota Thailand;
- front-wheel drive only.
3. Changan Qiyuan Q07 — electric driving without range anxiety
Qiyuan is Changan’s new-energy sub-brand, sold abroad as Nevo. The Q07 was unveiled in February 2025, and by April 2026, according to news18a, more than 100,000 had been sold. The wheels are driven by a 165 kW electric motor, while the 1.5 petrol engine mostly acts as a generator. On China’s CLTC cycle it covers 145 or 215 km on electricity alone, depending on the battery, with a total range of 1,345–1,400 km.
At 4.84 m it is the longest car in our top 10, and its 2.905 m wheelbase is the longest in the ranking too. Changan China quotes 763 litres of boot space, a 15.4-inch rotating central screen and a separate screen for the front passenger.
Pros:
- the quiet, smooth drive of an electric car, with no need to charge on the road;
- room in the back and a boot big enough for a family holiday;
- climate control and leather in our version.
Cons:
- the long body needs care when parking in the centre;
- Qiyuan is a young sub-brand, so this model has a shorter track record than its Japanese and Korean rivals.
4. Geely Monjaro — a crossover on a platform co-developed with Volvo
In China this model is called the Xingyue L. It sits on the CMA modular platform that Geely developed together with Volvo. From August to October 2024, according to Bitauto, it was China’s best-selling SUV with a combustion engine. In Russia it ranked seventh among all models in July 2024.
Our Monjaro is a front-driven 2.0 petrol car with a length of 4.77 m and a 2.845 m wheelbase.
Pros:
- leather and climate control in our version;
- space for driver and passengers on a long motorway run;
- a model proven by big sales in China and Russia.
Cons:
- front-wheel drive in our version;
- the large body makes parking harder in old neighbourhoods.
5. Hyundai Santa Fe — the seven-seater with all-wheel drive
Hyundai revealed the fifth-generation Santa Fe in summer 2023 with a completely new look: a boxier, larger body. It won a Red Dot design award in 2024 and was named Carwow Car of the Year 2025. Between 2000 and 2020 Hyundai sold more than 5.26 million Santa Fes.
Our Santa Fe has a 1.6 engine, petrol or hybrid, all-wheel drive and seven seats. It is 4.83 m long. Hyundai quotes a tailgate opening 1,275 mm wide. The model page lists climate control and leather seats.
Pros:
- the only seven-seater in the top 10;
- all-wheel drive for trips out of town;
- four suitcases in the boot, and pushchairs and bulky bags load easily.
Cons:
- Hyundai quotes 761 mm of legroom in the third row, which is fine for adults only on short trips;
- the large body needs space to park.
6. Toyota RAV4 — the world’s best-selling car
According to the analytics firm JATO, the RAV4 was the best-selling car on the planet in 2024, with about 1.19 million sold. Our fleet has the fifth generation, which made its debut in New York in March 2018 and earned five stars from Euro NCAP and ANCAP in 2019.
Our RAV4 is front-wheel drive with a 2.0 petrol engine and a length of 4.6 m. For a similar New Zealand specification, Toyota quotes 127 kW, a CVT, a 542-litre boot and 195 mm of ground clearance. The model page lists climate control.
Pros:
- a worldwide reputation;
- four suitcases in the boot;
- enough clearance for country roads.
Cons:
- front-wheel drive, so for the mountains in winter an all-wheel-drive car is the better pick;
- Toyota revealed the next generation in 2025, and ours is the previous one.
7. Changan UNI-Z — a turbo engine and a wide screen
The petrol UNI-Z went on sale in China in August 2024. The model started out as a hybrid, and in the first half of 2024 alone more than 23,000 were sold in China. Our car has a 1.5 Blue Whale turbo engine: Changan China quotes 185 hp and 300 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.
The wheelbase is 2.795 m, and the Chinese specification gives a 638-litre boot. Changan lists a 14.6-inch screen, a 360-degree camera and automatic parking. The model page adds climate control and leather seats.
Pros:
- 185 hp from the turbo engine for confident overtaking;
- a roomy back seat and a big boot;
- a modern cabin with a large screen.
Cons:
- front-wheel drive;
- the model is only a couple of years old, so it has no long track record yet.
8. Jetour T2 — a boxy body and 220 mm of clearance
Jetour is a young brand from the Chery group. The T2 went on sale in China in 2023 as the Traveller, and its global premiere took place in Dubai in January 2024. According to figures reported by TopGear Philippines, more than 500,000 T2s were sold worldwide in the 33 months after its debut. In January 2026 it scored five stars in the ASEAN NCAP crash test.
The T2 is more than two metres wide (2.006 m) and 1.88 m tall. The manufacturer quotes 220 mm of ground clearance, approach and departure angles of 28° and 30°, and it can ford water up to 700 mm deep. The Malaysian brochure gives a 580-litre boot. Check with our manager which drive type your T2 has.
Pros:
- high ground clearance for dirt access roads;
- safety confirmed by a crash test;
- a spacious cabin in a tall, boxy body.
Cons:
- over two metres wide, so take care on narrow streets and in underground car parks;
- a young brand, so its track record is still short.
9. Renault Kaptur — a compact body and 204 mm of clearance
The Kaptur was designed for the Russian market on the B0 platform and built in Moscow from 2016. More than 130,000 were sold in Russia in its first five years, and the model was updated in 2020.
Our Kaptur has a 1.6 engine and front-wheel drive, and it is 4.33 m long. Ground clearance is 204 mm.
Pros:
- high clearance for village roads and dirt tracks to holiday camps;
- a simple design without unnecessary electronics;
- a compact body that is easy to park in town.
Cons:
- our version lacks both cruise and climate control;
- the 114 hp 1.6 engine is less powerful than those of its rivals in this ranking.
10. Kia Soul — the most compact for the city
The Kia Soul is a city crossover with a distinctive boxy body. The third generation made its debut in Los Angeles in November 2018, and Kia says more than 1.5 million Souls have been sold in the US since 2009.
At 4.2 m it is the shortest car in the ranking. Even so, it has a tall roof: Kia US quotes 986 mm of rear legroom and 1,003 mm of rear headroom. It has a 1.6 engine and front-wheel drive. To find out why we think the Soul is underrated, read our separate article.
Pros:
