Karavan Rent A Car in Baku Explains When a Front-Wheel-Drive Crossover Is Enough for Shahdag and Tufandag
The Travelers Club at Karavan Rent A Car in Baku has published a guide for anyone planning a mountain trip and wondering whether they need an SUV. The company’s answer: for most trips to Shahdag and Tufandag, a front-wheel-drive crossover will do.
What the guide covers:
- both resorts are reached on asphalt, and during snowfalls the road agency also clears the mountain stretches, including the Qusar–Shahdag road;
- all-wheel drive helps you pull away and climb on a slippery surface, but braking and cornering depend above all on tyres;
- in spring, summer and autumn the crossover alone is enough, while in winter it’s worth adding the winter package with winter tyres, a brush, a tow rope and a shovel;
- between seasons, snow can fall at altitude before winter starts, so it pays to check the resort forecast;
- an SUV is genuinely needed for dirt roads to remote villages.
The guide also lists both resorts’ addresses and routes, the road police’s advice, a pre-trip checklist and a selection of front-wheel-drive crossovers from the company’s fleet.
