All five have an eight-speed automatic. The SUVs share a turbocharged 3.0 inline-six petrol engine and xDrive all-wheel drive: the X5 is the all-rounder, the X6 has a sloping coupé roofline, and the X7 is the biggest, with three rows of seats. The 730d xDrive is an all-wheel-drive diesel 7 Series sedan, and the 520i is a 5 Series sedan with a 2.0 petrol engine and rear-wheel drive. Any BMW can be delivered around the clock — to your flight, your hotel or your home — and a deposit can be avoided by adding “No Deposit” to standard insurance or by taking full “All Risks Zero” cover.
People rent a luxury SUV or an executive sedan in Baku for all sorts of reasons: to meet partners at the airport, to arrive at a wedding or an anniversary, or to spend a weekend in Gabala without trading comfort for capability. The three BMW SUVs in our fleet are technically very similar, and two sedans complement them for those who prefer a classic body. Below we look at how the X5, X6, X7, 730d xDrive and 520i differ and which one suits you.
BMW: from aero engines to sedans and the X family
BMW’s history begins on 7 March 1916 with the Munich company Bayerische Flugzeugwerke, a date BMW regards as its founding day. The first BMW motorcycle, the R 32, appeared in 1923, and the company has been building cars since 1928. BMW is still headquartered in Munich.
The sedans in our fleet come from older lines than the SUVs: BMW presented the 5 Series at the IAA motor show in 1972, and the 7 Series has been in production since 1977.
BMW’s SUVs started with the X5. It was unveiled at the Detroit auto show in 1999, and BMW says it created the Sports Activity Vehicle segment with it. The X6 followed in 2008, and BMW called it the world’s first Sports Activity Coupé — an SUV with the silhouette of a coupé. In October 2018 BMW presented the X7, the largest model in the X family.
What makes BMWs easy to rent
First, straightforward engineering. All five BMWs have an eight-speed automatic. The X5, X6 and X7 share a turbocharged 3.0 six-cylinder inline petrol engine and xDrive all-wheel drive, so the SUVs differ mainly in body size, roof shape and seat count.
Second, equipment. Every BMW in our fleet comes with leather upholstery, climate control, cruise control, parking sensors, a media screen with Bluetooth and a reversing camera.
Third, upkeep. Each car has scheduled maintenance once every 5,000 km, when the oil and all filters are renewed, and new tyres go on after every 50,000 km. On the road you can call for technical help or a tow truck at any hour, and a car that fails through no fault of yours is replaced.

BMW X6 — an SUV with a coupé silhouette
The X6 sits on the same base as the X5: both have a 2.975 m wheelbase, and the X6 is 4.94 m long. The key difference is the sloping, coupé-like roof, which makes the X6 almost five centimetres lower than the X5.
The X6’s boot holds 580 litres, or 1,530 litres with the rear seats folded, and it also takes five suitcases. Ours is the updated X7: 5.18 m long, with 3.105 m between the axles. Its 3.0 engine works with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system.
Seating in the X7 comes in three rows; whether the car has six or seven seats depends on the specification, and the manager will confirm it. The boot opens with a two-section tailgate, and with the second and third rows folded it reaches 2,120 litres. Overhead there’s a panoramic roof, the iDrive media system takes voice commands, and adaptive cruise is on hand.

BMW 730d xDrive — a 7 Series executive sedan
The 730d xDrive is the longer of our two BMW sedans: 5.12 m, with 3.07 m between the axles, so rear passengers get plenty of room. The cabin seats five, and the boot takes four suitcases.
Under the bonnet is a 3.0 inline-six diesel. According to BMW, two-axle air suspension is standard on this generation of the 7 Series.
People choose the 730d when they need an executive sedan: to meet a delegation at the airport, to travel with partners or to attend a formal event. BMW 730d xDrive rental in Baku.

Coming soon: the all-new 2027 BMW X5
Karavan Rent A Car in Baku keeps track of what’s new on the market and plans to add the all-new 2027 BMW X5 to its fleet. This is the fifth generation of the model. - the cabin gets BMW Panoramic iDrive: BMW Panoramic Vision displays information across the full width of the windscreen, joined by a 3D head-up display and a central display;
- adaptive suspension is standard, and the weight is split almost evenly between the axles.
Ask the manager on WhatsApp which X5 version will join the fleet and when it can be booked.
