Pickup Truck Rental in Baku and Across Azerbaijan: the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Mitsubishi L200, Great Wall Poer and Changan Hunter at Karavan Rent A Car in Baku
Key points. Pickup truck rental in Baku and across Azerbaijan at Karavan Rent A Car in Baku means a wide choice of models: the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, Great Wall Poer, Changan Hunter and Mitsubishi L200 from several generations. Every one has a diesel engine, four-wheel drive and a double cab for five people.
A pickup makes sense when the load shouldn’t ride in the cabin: bags of mortar, a generator, bikes, tents and anything you’d hate to see in a crossover’s boot. The models in this class only look alike at first glance; they differ in size, in history and in how they fared in crash tests. Below, we compare the pickups you can rent in Baku using our own model listings and the manufacturers’ figures. Why choose a pickup at all, and how it differs from an SUV, is covered in our article on pickup truck rental in Baku.

Toyota Hilux: from 1968 to the Dakar
Toyota launched the first Hilux on 21 March 1968 and revealed the eighth generation, to which our Hilux belongs, in Thailand in May 2015. According to the company, more than 17.7 million Hilux pickups had been sold by 2017, and the model is on sale in over 180 countries and regions.
The Hilux has made its name in motorsport too: Toyota Hilux rally prototypes won the Dakar in 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025. Book the Toyota Hilux.
Ford Ranger — the longest wheelbase in the fleet
Ford revealed the current-generation Ranger on 24 November 2021. Its development was led by Ford’s Product Development Center in Australia, and the pickup is sold in more than 180 markets. For 2024, Ford named the Ranger Europe’s best-selling pickup for the tenth year running. Book the Ford Ranger.
Mitsubishi L200 — several generations to choose from
The L200 line began in 1978 with a pickup called the Forte. According to Mitsubishi, the company built about 5.6 million pickups over 45 years and sold them in 150 countries.
Our newest L200s belong to the sixth generation, which premiered in Bangkok on 26 July 2023.

Changan Hunter — the only diesel Changan in the fleet
The Hunter’s equipment goes beyond the basics, adding a reversing camera, leather seats, Bluetooth and an infotainment screen. The rest of the brand’s line-up is covered in our Changan guide. Book the Changan Hunter · another Changan Hunter.
Choosing a pickup: three questions
How many vehicles do you need? For one, any model will do. If you need several cars of the same model, say for a work crew, ask the manager about the L200 or the Changan Hunter: we have more than one of each.
Who’s travelling? With children on board, a pickup with a strong crash-test record brings peace of mind. The Ford Ranger earned five stars from Euro NCAP in 2022. The latest L200 (in 2024) and the Great Wall Poer (in 2021) each scored five stars in Australia’s ANCAP tests, where they were rated as the Triton and the GWM Ute. A 0+ baby seat, a child seat or a booster can be added when you book. If there are more than five of you, a pickup won’t do, so take a look at our minivan guide.
What are you carrying? Give the manager the weight and size of the load up front. Payload depends on the model and version: for the current Ranger in international markets, for example, Ford quotes 925 to 1,191 kg.
Every pickup is listed in the Pick-Up section of our website.
Renting a pickup for trips around Azerbaijan
A pickup rented in Baku can travel the whole country: mileage within Azerbaijan is unlimited, and only trips abroad are off the table. The car can also be delivered to the regions; the rates on our website include delivery to Sumgayit, Guba, Gabala, Sheki, Ganja and Lankaran, among other places. If your route heads to remote districts, the rental starts at three days.
Tarmac highways lead to Guba, Gabala and Shahdag, and a pickup handles them with ease. Karabakh is open to you too, once you’ve obtained a permit on yolumuzqarabaga.az. Khinalug, however, is off-limits to the entire fleet: the road there runs along sheer drops.
What to know before renting a pickup
Four-wheel drive gives you extra grip in rain, snow and on broken stretches of road, but off-road driving isn’t covered by insurance: if the car is damaged on an impassable, prohibited or closed road, including in off-road conditions, even full cover won’t apply.
Two more limits concern work use. Damage caused while towing other vehicles isn’t covered. Nor is commercial use without the company’s permission, such as delivering goods, so mention any work plans when you book. For bulky luggage, you can add a roof rack to the car.
How we prepare our pickups
Our pickups follow the same maintenance schedule as the rest of the fleet: oil, filters and a check of the main components every 5,000 km, and new tyres every 50,000 km. If anything goes wrong during your trip, call us at any hour, weekends included. Roadside assistance and a tow truck will come out, and when the fault isn’t yours, you get a replacement vehicle.
Who we are and how to book
Karavan Rent A Car in Baku opened for business on 5 October 2008. Private customers and companies alike rely on it, SOCAR and its contractors among them, along with SLB, Halliburton and McDermott. Bookings are made on WhatsApp: the manager needs pictures of your passport and licence, then you pay 20% and receive a voucher for your dates. The remainder is settled when the keys change hands.
Pickup rental prices in Baku
Pickup rates aren’t fixed. The total reflects the model, the time of year, how busy the fleet is and the length of hire, and a longer hire means a cheaper day. The booking form on our site works out the exact sum for your dates, and the manager double-checks it on WhatsApp. For company projects there are corporate agreements of 3, 6 and 12 months. Delivery is priced on top, and you’re told the figure before the prepayment.
Getting your pickup in Baku: delivery and terms
The car can be driven out to the Heydar Aliyev International Airport terminal, a hotel or straight to your site at any time of day or night. There, a delivery service manager gives you the keys along with a contract prepared in your name in advance; after you look the car over together, all that’s left is to sign. You can hand the pickup back at the same spot or at another one agreed with the manager beforehand.
| Item | Condition |

Is a credit card required?
