Land Rover Rental in Baku: the Range Rover and Defender Luxury SUVs from Karavan Rent A Car in Baku
Key points. Karavan Rent A Car in Baku rents out four Land Rover SUVs: a latest-generation Range Rover, two previous-generation Range Rovers and a Defender P400. All of them have a 3.0 petrol engine, an automatic gearbox, all-wheel drive, five seats and room for five suitcases. Delivery runs around the clock to the airport, your hotel or your address, and a deposit is optional.
Land Rover builds cars that look just as right outside a five-star hotel as they do on a mountain road. In Baku that matters: in the morning you may need the SUV at a hotel on the Boulevard, and by evening on the road to Guba. Below are all the Land Rovers in our fleet, their specs as published by the manufacturer, and tips on which one fits your route.
Land Rover in our fleet: the numbers side by side
| Model | Seats | Suitcases | Engine | Length | Wheelbase |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Latest-generation Range Rover | 5 | 5 | 3.0 petrol | 5.052 m | 2.997 m |
| Previous-generation Range Rover (two cars) | 5 | 5 | 3.0 petrol | 4.999 m | 2.922 m |
| Land Rover Defender P400 | 5 | 5 | 3.0 petrol | 5.018 m | 3.022 m |
The Defender’s length includes the spare wheel mounted on the rear door; without it, the figure is 4.758 m. All four share the same core kit: leather seats, climate control, cruise control, parking sensors with a reversing camera, an infotainment screen and Bluetooth.
From a sketch in the sand to the Range Rover
Land Rover traces its story back to a beach. In 1947 Maurice Wilks drew the shape of the future off-roader in the sand of Red Wharf Bay; his brother Spencer was then managing director of Rover. The Land Rover was shown to the public on 30 April 1948 at the Amsterdam Motor Show.
The Range Rover followed on 17 June 1970, and Land Rover calls it the original luxury SUV. In 1971 it became the first vehicle ever displayed at the Louvre, cited as “an exemplary work of industrial design”. The Defender name arrived in 1990, and the last classic Defender left the line in 2016. Over a 68-year run, the Solihull plant built more than two million Series Land Rovers and Defenders.
The latest-generation Range Rover — a flagship for business travel
This is the fifth generation of the Range Rover, which Land Rover unveiled at the Royal Opera House in London on 26 October 2021. It sits on the new MLA-Flex architecture and is 2.047 m wide with the mirrors folded and 1.87 m tall.
Every new Range Rover comes with all-wheel steering: the rear wheels steer too, and Land Rover quotes a turning circle of less than 11 metres for this five-metre SUV. You feel the difference in tight courtyards and hotel car parks. The main screen of the Pivi Pro infotainment system is a curved 13.1-inch display. For all the luxury, it is still a true Land Rover, with a quoted wading depth of up to 900 mm, the same as the previous generation.
Ours is powered by a straight-six petrol engine. Book the latest-generation Range Rover.
The previous-generation Range Rover — two cars for a motorcade
The fourth-generation Range Rover made its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2012. Land Rover billed it as the world’s first SUV with a lightweight all-aluminium body, and the body was 39% lighter than the steel one of its predecessor. It is 2.073 m wide with the mirrors folded and 1.869 m tall.
We have two of these Range Rovers. Two cars of the same model are handy when guests need to travel in several matching vehicles, such as a wedding motorcade or a delegation arriving together with the new Range Rover. Book a Range Rover · the second previous-generation Range Rover.
Land Rover Defender P400 — built for mountain routes
The new Defender premiered at the Frankfurt Motor Show on 10 September 2019, and it is built only at the Nitra plant in Slovakia. Underneath is the D7x architecture, a lightweight aluminium monocoque which, according to Land Rover, is three times as stiff as a conventional body-on-frame structure.
The one in our fleet is a 110 with the P400 powertrain: a 3.0 Ingenium straight-six petrol engine with 48-volt mild-hybrid assistance, rated at 400 PS and 550 Nm. According to the manufacturer, this Defender goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. It has an eight-speed automatic gearbox and permanent all-wheel drive. Width with the mirrors folded is 2.008 m, and it stands about 1.97 m tall.
The model has a screen career too: the new Defender appeared in the James Bond film No Time To Die, where ten of them were used during filming. And at the 2026 Dakar Rally, its first, the Defender won the Stock category for production-based vehicles.
People rent the Defender for mountain trips, for example to Shahdag, Guba and Gabala, and for routes where the tarmac turns to gravel. One restriction applies even to the Defender: Khinalug is off-limits to every car in the company’s fleet, because the road to the village runs along sheer drops. Book the Land Rover Defender.
Which Land Rover suits your trip
- A negotiation, a VIP guest, an airport pick-up: the latest-generation Range Rover.
- A wedding or delegation motorcade: the two previous-generation Range Rovers, joined by the new one if needed.
- Mountain routes: the Defender P400.
- A week around the country with your family: a Range Rover for motorways and the city, the Defender for mountain routes.
- More than five of you: a Land Rover won’t do, and a minivan is the better choice — see our minivan guide.

How we prepare our Land Rovers
Every 5,000 km, each car in the fleet gets a scheduled service: fresh oil, all filters replaced and the key components inspected. New tyres go on every 50,000 km. If something happens on the road, technical assistance and a tow truck are on call 24/7, weekends included, and if the fault isn’t yours, the company sends a replacement car.
Catalogue photos illustrate the model. The manager will confirm the exact car, its colour and trim when you book.
Why clients trust us
Karavan Rent A Car in Baku has been renting cars since 5 October 2008. Its client list includes SOCAR and the contractors working for it, as well as SLB, Halliburton and McDermott, and in 2012 the company helped with transport during Eurovision in Baku.
Booking is a three-step process: photos of your passport and driving licence go to the manager on WhatsApp, you pay 20% up front, and a voucher confirms the car is yours for those dates. The balance is due when you collect the keys.
Land Rover rental prices in Baku
Land Rover rates aren’t fixed: what you pay depends on the model, the time of year, fleet availability and the rental length, and longer rentals bring the daily cost down. The booking form on the website shows the amount for your dates, and the manager can confirm the figure on WhatsApp. Corporate clients can also take long-term rentals of 3, 6 or 12 months. Delivery comes as a separate charge; the cost depends on the address and time, and you’ll know it in advance, before the prepayment.
Delivery and rental terms
No office visit needed: your Land Rover can meet you at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport terminal, outside your hotel or at any other address, even in the middle of the night. The keys and a contract already made out in your name are handed over by a delivery service manager; you inspect the car together and sign. Returning it works the same way: at the hand-over point, at your hotel or anywhere convenient, as long as you arrange it with the manager beforehand. For details on hotel delivery, see our article on car rental with hotel delivery.
